You've been dealing a lot recently.
Work stress, life stress, family stress, relationship stress. It's a lot. And, you can only take so much. You're at the point that something needs to change. But, you're getting to the end of your rope.
If this sounds familiar, you could benefit from starting online therapy.
Online therapy is a therapy platform that offers flexibility for your busy lifestyle. With online counseling, you are able to work with your therapist anywhere you are in the states we are licensed in.
What's the history of online therapy?
Online therapy has been available for more than 20 years. It began with phone therapy sessions, and then text and email. But, the adoption of technology for remote therapy sessions was slow for patients and therapists.
Then, when COVID began in March 2020, online therapy “virtually” exploded (pun intended). Many clients who thought they would never want to use it, found that they had no choice if they wanted to continue their treatment. Most therapists also had to make the switch just to keep their practices going. But once they tried it, clients and therapists found it to be a wonderfully helpful alternative.
What's more, online counseling has become part of our practice!
In fact, we not only found that online therapy was a great addition to our services, we added a new practice model that’s based exclusively on providing online therapy! We’re still Chicago Behavioral Health, LLC for those who wish to continue (or resume) in-person therapy, but now we’re proud to be known as Equipoise Teletherapy for our online services. Most of our clients find the online service to be so convenient and helpful, that they chose to continue even after we reopened our offices for in-person therapy!
The best part? We can offer online therapy in other states, too!
In addition to offering online therapy in Illinois, all of our licensed clinical psychologists participate in Psypact. This is a multi-state agreement that recognizes each member state’s licensing. This opens up our services to 15 states (so far) with another 15 states that have already begun the process of passing legislation to join! (See the list of states posted on the home page of our website.)
Services offered through online counseling
With the use of online counseling, we're able to offer you quality services for a variety of situations. Our online therapists have experience in a variety of different treatment modalities. In addition, our online therapists have years of experience working with a variety of different people.
Counseling for self-sabotage behaviors through online therapy
Self-sabotage behaviors are incredibly common for many people. Self-sabotage behaviors look different for all of us. But, often have a common theme. Typically, self-sabotage behaviors are things we do that we know we'll regret later. In the moment, we find ourselves thinking "future me will deal with this." Or, "I know this will suck later, but oh well!" Although they are common, self-sabotage behaviors are problematic. They can lead to episodes of binge eating that can develop into binge eating disorder. Other times, it can be seen through episodes of emotional eating.
For some, it can be unwanted behaviors. This will look different for everyone. In addition, it's not uncommon for individuals to engage in substance use that escalates to an addiction. Regardless of what this looks like for you, our online therapists can help.
Anxiety, Depression, & PTSD Treament through online therapy
In addition to self-sabotage behaviors, our online therapist are able to help you address other mental health concerns. Many of our clients navigate anxiety and depression on a daily basis. Together, we work to assist them in managing the experience that follows. In addition, we also work with individuals navigating PTSD. PTSD is a diagnosis that can occur after someone experiences traumatic event(s). If these experiences sound familiar, please reach out to us to start online therapy.
Privacy is a priority for us
Keeping your personal information private is a major concern in psychotherapy. But, our online platform uses the highest level of security to protect your confidentiality. We consider your privacy to be just as important in online therapy as it is in traditional therapy.
Online therapy may not be the best option for everyone.
For example, some interventions can be limited when you’re not seeing your therapist in person. So, it may not be recommended in more complex situations. In many cases, therapists cannot see their client’s body language. Which, can often give the therapist a fuller picture of their moods and behaviors.
While you should keep these limitations in mind, we have found online counseling to be extremely helpful for most everyone. And, you certainly can’t beat the convenience of showing up for your appointments from the comfort of your own home!
